Minneapolis/St. Paul – May 29, 2012 – Team USA Minnesota’s Gabriele Anderson will compete in the 1500 meters at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene on June 2.  The 38th Pre Classic, which is part of the Samsung Diamond League, will be held at historic Hayward Field.

Anderson ran a personal best of 4:06.46 in the 1500m at the Occidental High Performance Meet on May 19 and will be seeking an Olympic “A” qualifier of 4:06 in her event.  She already has a U.S. Olympic Trials “A” qualifier in the 1500 (4:12.93 or better).

Also on the track this week will be Heather Kampf and Chris Rombough who will travel to St. Louis to run in the fifth annual Big River Festival of Miles on May 31.  Kampf will run in the women’s elite 800 meter race and Rombough will compete in the elite men’s mile.   The event will be held at St. Louis University High School.

Both runners participated in the meet in 2011.  Kampf has a best in the 800 of 2:00.41 and was second at the Festival of Miles 800 last year.  Rombough was fourth in the mile last year and ran his personal best of 4:02.11 at this meet.

Brian Kraft 5k – May 28
Matt Gabrielson and Katie McGregor successfully defended their titles and set new course records at the Brian Kraft 5k on Memorial Day.  The 15th annual race was held at Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis.

Gabrielson posted 14:20 for the win (previous course record was 14:24 also set by Gabrielson), with McGregor running 16:17 for the title in the women’s race (previous course record was 16:23 set by McGregor).  Finishing second in the women’s field was Emily Brown with a time of 16:18.

Dam to Dam 20k – June 2
Matt Gabrielson will be among the 8,000 runners at the 33rd annual Dam to Dam 20k in Des Moines on June 2.  The race – known as Iowa’s Distance Classic – starts at the Saylorville Dam and finishes in downtown Des Moines.

In 2011, Gabrielson was sixth at the Dam to Dam 20k with a time of 1:03:56.
