Half Marathon Training Program

MDRA offers two half marathon training program cycles a year, Spring and Fall.

2019 MDRA FALL PROGRAM

11 week program geared for City of Lakes Half Marathon and other fall half marathons.

6:30-7:30 pm

Hiawatha School Recreation Center

Minneapolis, Minnesota

First group run June 29, 2019 – Mississippi River Blvd & Summit Ave. intersect, near the University of St. Thomas. – Coaches and MDRA staff will be on site at 7:30am. Run starts at 8am sharp!

2019 FALL PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Training: Certified coaches collaborate on a training plan with four distinct training groups so you can train at the level right for your fitness and lifestyle. It is recommended that half marathon runners have a base of at least 10-15 miles a week before entering the class. Group runs are Saturday mornings and Tuesday evenings. Half and Full Training Programs run in conjunction with each other.

Location: Group runs meet at a variety of locations across the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, primarily focused on the lakes and River Road.

Communication: Certified coaches are at each run and available via email to answer your questions. Bi-weekly emails are sent with run location, workout and training tips.

Education: Guest speakers and coaches cover training topics such as injury prevention, mental preparation, nutrition and different training topics.

Hydration Support: Hydration stops serving Powerade and water along your group runs.

Midweek runs: Tuesday runs begin at 6:00pm and help you remain consistent in your training by offering a group setting to push you through speed or hillwork..

SWAG: Choose from an MDRA tech tank or hat.

The group training dynamic: Gain confidence, security and camaraderie with the support of a training group.

Team leads: Run with friendly, knowledgeable and experienced MDRA member pace group leaders.

Special shopping days: Deep discounts scheduled twice a session to get you set up with everything you’ll need for training.

Cost: MDRA members $125, Non-members $150 (includes a 1 year MDRA membership). Does not include race registration.

16 week program geared for the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon including guaranteed entries to the race.

Register for MDRA’s popular half marathon training program geared for the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon or other spring marathons! Read testimonials from past participants here!

Come to our Information Session on March 5th or join us at the First Run on March 9th!

Guaranteed Entries: Registration for the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon is full. We have guaranteed entries for class participants!
